I’ve used it for bass live with small combos and for recording with great success. I’ve also found that with the speaker swap (I’m using a RI Jensen C12N) it can be a very nice, musical small bass amp after all.
This could be in part because it has a tad more headroom because of its solid state rectifier. I have a 1964 Fender Princeton that I LOVE but in all honestly this Musicmaster gets more use. I built one last year, but mine was only slight modded from the original, So I used the solid state rectifier and the replacement transformer set for the Musicmaster from Classictone (PT = 40-18100, OT = 40-18101, Driver = 40-18093). What power transformer is being used? I see that you have modded yours using a different one as you have switched to one that supports a 5V rectifier tube. Builders like Ken Fisher of Trainwreck amplifiers and countless others have entrusted Pacific Transformer to design and build the iron of their legendary amplifiers.
